Viewers of The River are thrilled that the multi-award-winning telenovela is renewed for another season.

#TheRiver1Magic would like fan-favourite actor, Lawrence Maleka, who's been playing the role of Zolani since season one, to return to the telenovela in season five.

The multi-award-winning actor took a break from the telenovela for the first time since its inception last month (October).

PREDICTED STORYLINES IN SEASON FIVE OF THE RIVER' Maleka's character, Zolani exited the show after his character was sentenced to prison for the murder of Zithulele Duze (Makhaola Ndebele).

1Magic shared an emotional goodbye scene on Twitter between Maleka and the Dikanas on 21 October.

Fans are also hoping that villain characters, Lindiwe Dikana and Mohumi will start dating next season.

Lindiwe and Mohumi have been getting along recently since Mohumi played by SepUtla Sebogodi joined the telenovela.

Audiences feel that Lindiwe needs to teach her husband, Zweli a lesson as he's been cheating on her since season two.

Lindiwe and Mohumi previously dated and conceived a daughter, Tumi Mokoena-Dikana (Larona Moagi) who died at the beginning of season four.

The pair have similar personalities, have more in common, and are both driven.

Mohumi's friend, Cobra Mokoena, has also suggested that he and Lindiwe should have an affair behind Zweli's back.

THE RIVER' DECEMBER SPOILERS The TVSA teasers suggest that the miners will strike against Lindiwe's mine and that the community will be led by Mohumi.

Cobra (Presley Chueneyagae) found a diamond this season just like his father, Thato Mokoena (Don Mlangeni) in season one.

The community knows that Lindiwe (Sindi Dlathu) killed him by the river and won't let history to repeat itself.

The TVSA Friday, 31 December teaser hints that Zolani's wife, Emma (Lunathi Mampofu) is going to cross into the new year with someone close to her.

The headline reads:
