5G Router from HMS Networks certified by Deutsche Telecom

Early last year, HMS released the first commercially available industrial 5G router optimized for industrial private networks. The new router is off to a flying start as many industries are evaluating, or already implementing, 5G networks. The router is now also certified by Deutsche Telecom for use in so called Campus networks.

Campus networks are non-public networks that are usually quite small and dedicated to a specific geographical area. They offer industrial companies within a geographical proximity to share a private 5G network. This adds an additional level of security and control compared to a public network and allows the cost of the private network to be shared between companies.

Deutsche Telecom has now approved the Wireless Router 5G from HMS for use in their campus networks. This means industrial devices can be integrated with the wireless 5G campus network using this router.

5G gaining traction in the industry

We have seen a very strong market demand in our 5G solutions since the release last year, says Henrik Arleving, IIoT Innovation Architect, at HMS Networks. Projects are moving from proof-of-concepts to real-life installations as more and more users are realizing the benefits of 5G in industrial applications. These benefits include faster communication speeds, better security and reliability.

Starterkit available

The Wireless Router 5G provides an easy way to get started with 5G installation and is also available in a ready-made starter kit which includes the Wireless Router 5G and two industrial IO-Link sensors sending data across the 5G network. This allows users to try out 5G in their own facilities without having to set up applications of their own from scratch.

The 5G Starterkit with IO-Link sensors comes in a box and includes the Wireless Router 5G and two sensors for measuring distance and signal strength.
