KKNK 2019: What you need to know

It's that time of the year again folks! Keep reading for the lowdown on what's happening at this year's Klein Karoo Nationale Kunstefees (KKNK)

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the KKNK. The organisers assured festival-goers not to worry about load shedding - they've made the necessary arrangements, and the show will go on.

Hugo Theart confirmed that generators are fueled up and at the ready:

I can assure everyone that the festival will continue. We have a lot of generators that we've brought in for the different venues, things will continue according to plan, and people really don't have to worry. In fact, if you want electricity, the festival is the place to be.

Tickets can be purchased through Computicket, and the lineup at this year's festival caters to old and young and lovers of all genres.

KKNK (@KKNKfees) March 21, 2019 The spotlight will also be on new material - specifically theatre performances. The best of the best will be awarded at the show with Kanna trophies.

On Friday, festival goers can look forward to performances by Lucinda, Brenday Pyeper, Majozi, Andre Schwartz, Leah, Refentse and Jack Mabaso.

Refentse Morake has taken the Afrikaans music industry by storm following the viral videos of his performances of Lisa se Klavier in 2015.

He released his first album the following year, and have collaborated with Adam Tas and Ricus Nel since then.

Watch: Refentse's hit single, Sonvanger On Saturday, Leagan Phillips, Faraway George, Kannie Warries Dansorkes, Venetia and Petro De Villiers will grace the stages, amongst others.
