Capitol Broadcasting Appoints Loretta Harper-Arnold Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility

Capitol Broadcasting has promoted Loretta Harper-Arnold to Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility, effective Monday, June 7, 2021. The role is a newly created position for CBC.

This new position is critical to helping us continue to develop who we are and what we represent as a company, said Corp President/COO Jimmy Goodmon. Loretta is a natural fit for the position and because of her background she can hit the ground running at full speed, so watch out.

In this new role, Harper-Arnold will lead CBCs efforts across all social responsibility pillars, including philanthropy, DEI, employee workplace giving, corporate sponsorships, and employee engagement/volunteerism. She will manage and guide, in collaboration with Corporate Vice President of Human Resources Angie Emerline, CBCs ongoing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy and continue to be the companys primary representative in the community.

Im so happy for Loretta and for CBC, said Corp Vice President of Special Projects George Habel. She has the division perspectives, knows our leadership and already has great depth in the community.

He continued, Loretta is the embodiment of CBC values, and she brings her own wisdom and good heart to this bigger role. Elevating this position to the executive ranks is beyond symbolic; its a significant strategy on Jimmys part.

Harper-Arnold joined WRAL-TV in 1997 as Community Relations Director. In 2007, her role expanded to include corporate community relations duties working directly with CEO Jim Goodmon.

She has spent the last 24 years admirably building and maintaining the companys relationships with key community leaders and stakeholders, said Jimmy Goodmon. Her reputation as a trusted leader in our community and throughout the company is an invaluable asset to CBC.

Harper-Arnold earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from NC State University, graduating cum laude. She followed that degree with a Masters in Public Administration from her alma mater. She serves on numerous boards in the Triangle and is a Co-Founder and Executive Board Member of the Triangle MLK, Jr. Committee.

This is a great move for CBC and of course Loretta, said CBC Radio Vice President Brian Maloney. For years, Loretta has led our company in the community with one voice and brought all CBC divisions together so many times. Loretta is VERY connected in our community and tethered to every division. This is exciting for all!

In 2018, Capitol Womens Network presented Harper-Arnold with the inaugural Scottie Stephenson Trailblazer Award. The award, given to honor the legacy and lifetime service of CBCs first female executive officer, reads for exemplary strength, character and commitment to Capitol Broadcasting Company.

I am proud of her past accomplishments and looking forward to her leadership and contributions moving forward, said Goodmon.
