Houses of the Oireachtas use Apantac MicroQ Quad SplitsParliamentary Broadcasting Unit uses Micro Q for low cost conversion and monitoring

The National Parliament of Eire's broadcasting unit in Dublin recently purchased 6 x Apantac MicroQ units. They are using them to display spotter camera outputs from the various chambers on their monitoring wall in each of 6 galleries. Their spotter cameras are composite video and they take the Micro-Q output into one of the monitors so they can display 4x spotters in one picture in picture.

The MicroQ is a very compact low cost high quality fixed quad split with full screen capability that, thanks to supplied mounting gear, can easily be installed at the rear of a monitor. The unit accepts Composite, SD, HD and 3G SDI signals as standard, with automatic signal detection, they offer an HDMI/DVI and an SDI output, decode and display embedded audio meters and support the TSL protocol over IP.

The systems were sold by UK Distributor Polar Graphics and installed by Systems Integrators Eurotek. Kevin Moore, of Eurotek, said: When we upgraded the production galleries for the Irish Parliament, we installed a new HD infrastructure to accommodate their move to HD, and as such, their existing spotter cameras, which aren't being replaced at the present time, wouldn't integrate easily into this new system. The Micro-Q quad splits fitted perfectly in with the system, and allowed us to take the spotter camera outputs, which are composite video, and integrate them into the video wall, using the SDI output. So it gave us both composite to SDI conversion and quad-split, in one compact box, and turned out to be the most cost-effective way to deal with the legacy signals for this application
