(28/02/2015) Booth #C3-20: Quantel and Snell are out in force at Cabsat 2015 on booth #C3-20, demonstrating 4K 60p production workflows, sports highlighting, Channel in a Box and high quality color and finishing.
4K 60p production and post workflows
A complete 4K 60p production workflow is on show at Cabsat, built around the Sirius 800 router and the brand new Kahuna 9600 switcher, which includes up to 24 M/Es and 48 keyers. Sirius 800 is an enterprise level, multi-format router that can simultaneously handle SD, HD, 1080i and 4K 60p signals, and is routing sources for the Kahuna 9600 switcher. The switcher is driven by the revolutionary Maverik modular control surface that can be tailored to space and the TD's requirements. Pablo Rio is providing one of the 4K 60p sources to the Kahuna and will also be demonstrating realtime color correction and finishing at 4K 60p. Visitors can see all the latest features and facilities, including Flow Motion motion-estimated speed changing, Long GOP XAVC, Apple ProRes 4444 XQ, support for the latest Sony and ARRI SDKs and AS-11/DPP.
Sports highlighting
Also on show is LiveTouch, Quantel's brand new studio sports highlighting system. LiveTouch is a scalable system capable of supporting productions in several studios to maximize ROI. Uniquely, LiveTouch offers bidirectional editor integration making it faster and easier to integrate editing and highlights operations. In developing the LiveTouch panel, Quantel has consulted extensively with sports broadcasters and their on-air operators to ensure that it exactly meets the rigorous needs of live production.
Channel in a Box
The industry-leading ICE channel in a box is on show, being demonstrated in combination with Morpheus playout automation and Momentum Media Asset Management. The latest developments are being highlighted, including new web-based interfaces and apps that extend access to any desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone, enabling control and monitoring from anywhere while reducing broadcasters cost of ownership and operational complexity.
