Junior Television Planner

Research potential international programming for tv channels as directed by department head, View screeners as and when they arrive and briefing department head of programming of potential interest, Identify programming of possible interest for the channels

Request information and screeners from distributors and sending feedback to department head

Keep an up to date and detailed inventory recon of all international programming received and licensed

Keep record of all contracts as and when they are signed and received

Follow up on outstanding contracts

Check existing inventory for slot suitability and advising department head of potential problems

Monitor inventory (both series and movies) in terms of expiries, programme costs and alerting department head of potential problems

Assist with the preparation of monthly schedules under supervision of the department head

Coordinate with the other Planners on the monthly schedules to ensure it's in line with the channel strategy

Assist other departments (particularly Creative Services, Publicity, Marketing, Online & Commercial Time Sales) on information regarding new international programming

Research movie box office takings and other programming information

Ensure that any errors or discrepancies loaded in Broadcast Master or any other broadcasting software are clearly communicated to the Scheduling department

Compile catalogues for distribution deals as well as other ad-hoc duties relating to the distribution side of the business

Play a supportive role to the International Acquisitions department

Perform ad-hoc duties for department head

Basic understanding of Broadcasting environment

Computer literacy

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

Good knowledge of television and movies

High level of accuracy

Meticulous attention to detail

Understanding of Microsoft Excel

Analytical and quick thinker

Ability to manage time and meet deadlines

Ability to work effectively under pressure in a team environment

Must be well organised

Must be able to work independently

Ability to interpret contractual agreements
