BURBANK, CA--July 29, 2013-- KCETLink, the new national independent public transmedia organization, continues to strengthen its leadership at the executive level with two promotions within the company, effective immediately.
Palencia Turner was elevated to Vice President of Development from Executive Director of Principal Gifts, and Ariel Carpenter was named Vice President of Communications from her previous role as Executive Director of Communications.

As vice president of Development, Ms. Turner leads Member and Viewer Services, Membership, Special Events and Development, including oversight of major, principal and planned gift efforts. She is an institutional advancement strategist with nearly two decades of experience leading public affairs, fund development, community engagement and marketing programs for organizations in the entertainment, education, non-profit and government sectors.
Prior to joining KCET in 2011, Ms. Turner was senior development officer for Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., where she worked closely with the president on the 80 for 80 anniversary celebration, exceeding the initiatives development goal by nearly $1 million for the renowned design institution. She previously served as director of community & fund development for the Urban Education Partnership--now the Los Angeles Education Partnership--and worked as government affairs manager, legislative representative and assistant director of neighborhood programs for the Los Angeles Mayors Office during the Hahn Administration. Ms. Turner is active on community boards and was appointed to the City of Pasadenas Arts & Culture Commission. She reports to Mason.
As the head of Communications for KCETLink, Ms. Carpenter has helped redefine KCET as the countrys largest independent public media organization and spearheaded communications efforts around several key company events, including the companys move to Burbank and its merger with Link TV. She will continue to oversee advertising, marketing, media relations, and corporate communications, ensuring consistent messaging throughout the organization.
Before joining KCET in 2011, Ms. Carpenter was the director of public relations for the University of Southern California (USC) where she oversaw PR activities for the university, helping to build its social media presence, and cultivating promotional angles for select USC initiatives in national media outlets.
Ms. Carpenter has been at the forefront of the technology revolution for close to two decades, working with both entrepreneurial and established companies, which have helped define the new digital age to consumer and business markets. Prior to USC, Ms. Carpenter served in communications management roles in banking and finance, and as senior vice president in the digital media and technology practice at the Los Angeles-based public relations firm, MPRM Communications, where she developed corporate and consumer public relations strategies and oversaw the day-to-day client operations.
Ms. Carpenter has received numerous industry awards for her work, including a Sigma Delta Chi award for feature writing and was recognized as one of 2012s 50 Fabulous Women by THE Pasadena Foothills Magazine. She also reports to Mason.
