Introducing the Kickstarter App for iPhone and iPod Touch

Were excited to announce that the first official Kickstarter app launched in the iTunes Store this morning! Its available for iPhone and iPod Touch, its free, and you can download it here.

The app is a whole new way to experience Kickstarter. We took things weve learned from the past three years of building the site, and applied them to a total redesign for the iPhone. We redesigned the project page, browse pages, and others. And we focused on making three things really useful and fun: finding new projects, keeping up to date with projects youve backed, and offering great tools for creators.

Finding projectsThe best part of Kickstarter is all the amazing projects, and the app is a really fun way to find them. You can browse projects by category, popularity, and other filters. You can back projects and watch project videos. And you can even use your location to see projects near you.

Following projectsThe app also keeps backers up-to-date on the projects they've backed. The Activity tab shares updates from projects you're backing, with new updates getting added the instant the creator posts them. If you use Kickstarter's social features, the app notifies you when your friends back projects or launch a project of their own. (You can easily add friends from Facebook in the app if you arent using this already.)

Creator toolsThe app has a bunch of great stuff to help creators manage their projects. It notifies creators of pledges as they happen. It keeps creators up-to-date on their project's progress and stats with the project dashboard. Most excitingly, creators can take pictures and videos with their iPhone camera and post them as project updates straight from the app, bringing backers even closer to the creative process.
