Casting Me gets DVD & VOD release in Nor America

After five years of project-based professional involvement and progression in the industry, in 2011 the Chasing Migada team independently produced their first feature film, titled Casting Me '

The script, written by Director Quinton Lavery, is semi-autobiographical and manages to capture a surprisingly wide spectrum of human emotion in a cunningly comedic fashion.

Having essentially been a passion project', everyone on set, from crew members to lead actors, worked for free, being attracted to the project by the fact that Chasing Migada were trying to make something unique with very little budget.

In 2006, Quinton Lavery and Darren Wertheim, freshly out of film school, co-founded Chasing Migada Productions' - a production company based in Cape Town, South Africa.

After a year and a half on the local and international film festival circuit, Chasing Migada Productions was approached by Indiepix, an American distribution company interested in distributing Casting Me ' in North America on DVD and video on demand/digital format. Quite a feet for such a small little independent film from South Africa.

The subsequent DVD package has everything you would expect from a normal studio released DVD, Behind the Scenes, Commentary, Deleted Scenes and a whole lot more. After its initial release, the DVD will hopefully be sold in retail stores such as Best Buy, Target, Wallmart and be available for digital download on iTunes, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon (preorders already available on Amazon.com).

Story line:

Paul is a frustrated yet likeable Casting Director who has dreams of finally making his own feature film. But his hopes are somewhat defeated: his girlfriend with whom he was (and still is) hopelessly in love, Chloe, broke up with him; he hates his job despite loving his colleagues at the agency (Janet and Rueben) and he lives in a flat with his gay and peculiar computer nerd friend (Nick). To get his life on track again and win Chloe back, he decides to make use of his otherwise grim situation and make a film about his job at the casting agency and tumultuous love life.

Cast:

The cast comprises of recognized South African actors and comedians. The male lead role is performed by standup comedian, radio presenter and TV figure, Paul Snodgrass. The female lead role is performed by actress Roxanne Prentice who previously starred in Operation Kranich' and Getting Out Alive'. Guest stars include Colin Moss, Louw Venter, Bjorn Steinbach and FHM-model Jenna Saras. The illustrious supporting cast comprises of Jonathan Hearns ( Hansie') and Raph Kossew ( Charlie Jade').

Budget:

Thanks to a number of sponsors who supported the movie with free/minimal charge the movie has a record low budget of R35, 000. Wardrobe (Lee Jeans, Puma, Piele Shirts); equipment (Media Film Services, Visual Impact); props (Assegai Lube, Rikki's Taxis); food (Buzz caf , Butler's Pizza) and locations (Traffik Studio, Armoury Boxing Studio, & Union, Labia Theaters).
