The X Factor finalist Lucie Jones makes her TV acting debut when she plays a budding folk singer in Midsomer Murders.

Lucie plays Melody Carver who gets caught up in a police investigation when a song made famous by her late uncle seems to be inspiring a series of killings.
Says Lucie: I have acted on stage but I've never been given the opportunity to do TV acting before so I didn't expect to get anything from the audition. I was very nervous so when I got the job it was amazing. On the first day of filming I was absolutely terrified but the director Renny Rye was my rock. He was so patient with me, offering quiet advice when needed and giving me a boost when things were tough. He talked me through step by step and Sean Gilder who plays my dad really helped me what a lovely, lovely man.
Luckily for Lucie's fans, the episode does include a chance to hear her singing talents.
I get to sing a song called The Ballad of Midsomer County which was written especially by Seth Lakeman. He's a brilliant songwriter and we recorded it at a music studio in Shepherd's Bush. This time, I felt very comfortable going into my own territory. I listen to folk music but hadn't sung it for a few years so it was very refreshing.
Lucie appeared on The X Factor in 2009 alongside Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon and Jedward.
The Ballad of Midsomer County', a beautiful folk song performed by Lucie Jones and accompanied by Seth Lakeman on guitar and violin, will be released as a digital single on 11 February 2015. It will also feature on the forthcoming Midsomer Murders album to be released in March by Silva Screen Records Ltd. The album entitled Midsomer Murders' Includes score composed by Midsomer's resident composer Jim Parker from the current series and tracks from the episode The Ballad of Midsomer County'.
Lucie adds: The song we are releasing alongside the show is the icing on the cake for me. I was so excited to get the role and kickstart my acting career, but to be able to sing alongside it and release a tune, awesome!
Midsomer Murders was such an incredible experience. The actors were so amazing to work with, really welcoming and enthusiastic about it being my first role. I had so many hugely experienced people offering help and advice.
Lucie will appear in the episode The Ballad of Midsomer County' on Wednesday 11 February ITV at 8pm. Paul Logue who wrote the episode, also wrote the lyrics to the song The Ballad of Midsomer County', which will be available to download from Itunes from the 11 February.
