World to be dazzled by Schnbrunn Summer Night Concert, anks to Eurovision

**The EUROVISION concert package comprises:

The world-renowned New Year's Concert from the Musikverein Concert Hall, Vienna.

The annual Summer Night Concert Sch nbrunn, at the Schlosspark, Sch nbrunn Palace, Vienna.

A special concert held in a different international location each year. In 2009 it was at the Shanghai Oriental Art Centre; in 2010 at the Cankar Hall, Slovenia, hosted by RTVSLO; in 2011 it took place at the National Auditorium of Music, Madrid, hosted by RTVE and in 2012 it was held at the Royal Albert Hall, London, on 7 September, as part of the BBC Proms.

The 2013 special concert is scheduled for 3 November, in Beijing, with EBU Associate Member CCTV as host broadcaster. An edited version will be offered to members of the VPO package.

EUROVISION is once again set to bring music lovers around the world the annual Summer Night Concert, from the gardens of Vienna's magnificent Sch nbrunn Palace.

Tomorrow (30 May), *31 EBU Members will broadcast the concert live or by deferred relay, while up to 100,000 concertgoers attend free of charge every year.

EUROVISION will provide the satellite signal for an array of television stations outside the European region, delivering the concert to a huge global audience. And the concert will reach up to two million music lovers via radio. Radio stations in Bulgaria, Canada, Estonia, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands and USA have already ordered the audio file, which will be distributed by EURORADIO shortly after the event.

EBU Media Director Annika Nyberg Frankenhaeuser said: "We take great pride in bringing this spectacular event to the world every year. Among other things, public service broadcasting is about excellence and universality, two qualities that the Summer Night Concert possesses in abundance.

Directed by Lorin Maazel, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and German-Canadian tenor Michael Schade will pay a tribute to Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi in celebration of the 200th anniversary of their births this year.

Under its current concert package** with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (VPO), the EBU has since 2009 distributed the Summer Night Concert on TV and radio.

The Summer Night Concert is produced by Austrian EBU Member ORF, in cooperation with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2004 the event has been held in the stunning baroque Sch nbrunn gardens, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
