SynthFest UK goes fourth!

The UKs biggest synthesizer event returns to Sheffield for its fourth year

SynthFest UK 2019 takes place on October 5th at the Sheffield Octogon Centre.

SynthFest UK, the annual one-day synthesizer and electronic music event conceived and run by SOS as part of Sheffields Sensoria music and film festival, returns to the synth citys Octagon Centre from 10.30am to 6.30pm on the last day of Sensoria 2019, October 5th.

Presenting its usual diverse and exciting mix of product showcases and free electronic music-related seminars with key practitioners of the genre, SynthFest UK 2019 has over 45 companies signed up to show their software and hardware instruments, kits and other audio gear at the time of writing. The exhibitors range from the pioneers of synthesizer tech such as Moog, Roland, Korg and Yamaha to modern innovators in Eurorack, synth hardware and software design, including Analogue Solutions, AJH Synth, Novation, Steinberg, Arturia, Ableton, UDO and more - plus some fascintating start-ups launching bizarre and wonderful boutique products. Not only is SynthFest UK about showing off the biggest selection of gear you can see in one day, its also a retail show where you can chat to specialist dealers and bag yourself some bargains at show prices on the day.

Fairlight specialist Rob Puricelli is on SynthFest UKs seminar programme this year.

The full seminar programme has yet to be confirmed (see the website below for the latest details), but already we know that:

Fairlight expert Rob Puricelli (above) will be looking back on 40 years of this groundbreaking digital instrument and demonstrating what made it such a gamechanger;

Engineer, producer and performer Marta Salogni (below) will be demonstrating her unique combination of synthesizers with tape-based effect loops, using Revox and Akai reel-to-reel tape machines to create a composition on the spot;

and the man behind Molten Modular (and SOS author) Robin Vincent will be giving his audience an in-depth beginners guide' to building a modular system from scratch, then putting theory into practice by assembling such a setup on stage.

You can also catch product demos from Teenage Engineering and Ableton, with others to be confirmed.

Tape-manipulating synthesist, producer and engineer Marta Salogni is also part of the 2019 SynthFest UK seminar lineup.

Early-bird adult tickets for SynthFest UK can be purchased for £11 a head until the end of August, after which the price increases. Full-price tickets are £15 and available on the door, subject to venue capacity limits on the day (we recommend pre-booking to avoid disappointment). The concessionary rate for students and senior citizens is £9 each, while young adults from 14-18 pay £8 each, and under 14s enter for free. Many of the SOS team and authors will be at the show; we look forward to seeing you there!
