Rohde & Schwarz demonstrates innovative T&M equipment for next generation designs at embedded world 2018

Measurement confidence. Tests on electronic circuits have shown that these instruments significantly increase measurement reliability. Highlights include the new embedded oscilloscopes with a 10-bit resolution and large memory depth. New, high-precision power rail probes and an EMC precompliance test setup. Rohde & Schwarz will be premiering its three new oscilloscope series R&S RTC1000, R&S RTM3000 and R&S RTA4000 to the general public at embedded world 2018 in Nuremberg (booth 4-218). These oscilloscopes are equipped with cutting-edge technology, a smartphone-like touchscreen and far more features than conventional instruments in their class. Together with the R&S RTB2000 oscilloscopes introduced in 2017, the T&M expert now offers market-leading 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 class instruments.

The R&S RTM3000 oscilloscopes are designed for DC power and voltage measurements like ripple and noise measurements Especially for the increasingly stricter tolerance limits are oscilloscopes with a 10-bit vertical resolution and a vertical range up to 500 V/div with full bandwidth a perfect solution. In addition, the 80 Msample memory depth allows measurements over long time periods with high sampling rates.

The R&S RTA4000 oscilloscopes have an even larger memory of 100 Msample per channel, making them ideal for analyzing serial protocols and power-on/off sequences. They offer a 1 Gsample segmented acquisition memory and have a 10-bit resolution to clearly display fine details.

The cost-effective R&S RTC1000 is extremely compact and can be upgraded with numerous additional functions: eight-channel logic analyzer, four-channel pattern generator, digital voltmeter, component tester, spectrum analyzer, counter, and protocol analyzer for I2C, SPI, UART/RS-232, CAN and LIN. Users can expand the bandwidth from 50 MHz to a maximum of 300 MHz via software license - something no other device in this price class offers.

New probes for power measurement

In addition to its oscilloscopes, Rohde & Schwarz will be demonstrating new probes to meet current challenges in the field of power measurement. A new 1:1 power rail probe with 4 GHz measurement bandwidth detects even the smallest coupled RF signals in sensitive embedded components used for mobile and IoT applications. For this highly sensitive, very low-noise probe, a 6 GHz model of the extremely powerful Windows-based R&S RTO2000 series of lab oscilloscopes is recommended. Other probes on display include a probe for measuring battery life as well as new probes for power electronics measurements up to 6000 V that offer a measurement bandwidth of up to 200 MHz, a particularly high common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) and for this type of probes- the best DC measurement accuracy of 0.5 percent.

The R&S Scope Rider is perfect for power electronics measurements in the field. Since the fully insulated handheld oscilloscope meets measurement category CAT IV requirements, it can be used to perform measurements up to 600 V at the source of low voltage installations. Various functions can be added, such as a harmonic analyzer for power supply quality. The R&S Scope Rider features a CAN/LIN trigger and decode option for users in the automotive industry.

EMC pre-compliance test setup for developers

Components in large-scale integrated designs are often sensitive to RF disturbance signals from neighboring components. EMC measurements are therefore imperative during development. Rohde & Schwarz presents a pre-compliance test setup for developers who only sporadically measure EMC to test their designs. The solution is based on the economical R&S FPC1000 spectrum analyzer and the very user-friendly R&S ELEKTRA EMC measurement software.
