Austin Authority: GoPro Dominates X Games in Texas
They came. They saw. They conquered. GoPro and its athletes descended upon Austin, Texas, this past week and took X Games by storm. GoPro set the tone early at MotoX Step Up, where Ronnie Renner continued his long-time dominance of the discipline all while fellow GoPro athlete and tire-slayer Ken Block live tweeted from the GoPro Twitter handle.

With Nate Adams behind the Twitter account, live tweeting the action, fellow GoPro athlete Taylor Robert twisted the throttle of his KTM on the EnduroX course en route to a silver medal and a podium celebration. Adams, then, traded the Twitter post button for a helmet and boots so he could remind everyone just how smooth he is on a motocross bike. He took to the Speed & Style track, linking trick after trick in between Supercross-level speed to take Gold and add to his gigantic stack of X Games medals.
The two-wheel domination continued into BMW where Mike Hucker Clark stayed true to his moniker and hucked his way to a Silver medal in BMX Dirt (top image), while Steve McCann joined Elliot Sloan in securing Silver on the ramp for Big Air Doubles.
Not to be out-shined by the two-wheeled talent, skateboarders Pierre Luc Gagnon and Alex Midler snatched up some hardware of their own. PLG reclaimed Skate Vert superiority with a Gold medal run that could not be duplicated, while young Alex Midler threw down in the Amateur Street comp, taking home his first piece of X Games medal...
Did the hits stop there? No, no they did not. While GoPro athletes were winning medals and HERO4 cameras were capturing tons of cool content for social media and course previews, and other production channels, the ESPN production team implemented GoPro's wireless broadcast solution HEROCast into live broadcast in order to cut to those amazing angles that only GoPro can get, in real time! From Big Air to Flat Track, HEROCast was there to score that immersive angle for the television audience.
All in all, it was yet another fantastic X Games, thanks to the incredible athletes, the ultra-professional and creative crew at ESPN, and the fans out there that come to celebrate the feats captured by all of these incredible people.
