dcinex To Install First Ruian Cinema Under Eurimages European Cinema Support Fund

At Moscow International Film Market dcinex announced their decision to assist 35mm cinema in Moscow to convert their second screen into digital. For the first time in Russia, a part of the financing will be covered by the Eurimages Exhibition Support Programme.

The programme is aimed at giving financial support to exhibitors in Albania, Bosnia- Herzegovina, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Georgia to assist them with their conversion to digital cinema. Financing of the digital cinema equipment remains one of the major obstacles to overcome for many small theatres - and that is where Eurimages' Exhibition Support Programme steps in, explained Julia Vinokurova, Managing Director of dcinex Russia.

Under this programme, Eurimages grants a sum of up to 30,000 Euro per screen and/or 50% of the purchase and installation costs of the digital cinema equipment. This sum shall be used to finance the purchase and installation of digital projectors, servers and other related equipment. dcinex's parent company in Belgium won a tender of the European Union and, consequently, is named exclusive provider for the implementation of this programme.

dcinex's Russian subsidiary, dcinex LLC, will install a set of digital projection equipment including Doremi IMB+ShowVault, Volfoni 3D, JBL speakers and Rosettabridge TMS. In addition, a BARCO ACS2049 scaler for alternative content screenings and a Datasat AP20 16-channel processor, e.g. for simultaneous interpreting, provide for the latest standards in a state-of-the-art cinema. The cinema also uses satellite transmission to screen Metropolitan Opera Live.

At 35mm we stay in avant-garde of the contemporary cinema movement to fill the huge gap left by mainstream movie theatres. The support provided by dcinex and Eurimages European Cinema Support Fund enables 35mm to be better technically equipped, providing increased audience cinema experience and satisfaction with higher visual and sound quality, Nadya Kotova Art Director of 35mm stated.

The installation will be completed by end of December, 2012 and marks another cornerstone for the Russian subsidiary of dcinex which was only founded in September this year.
