Over 900,000 watch Ireland s disappointing defeat to Belgium An average of 925,000* viewers watched Ireland's defeat to Belgium live on RT 2 on Saturday afternoon. The audience peaked at 1,032,800** viewers in the moments before Belgium's second goal.. The match is now the second most watched programmes on Irish television this year.
While the overall audiences were down slightly on Ireland's draw against Sweden last Monday's the share was up with an average of 78.5%***. These figures do not include out of home viewing on Saturday with RT 2 coming to the rescue of Ireland fans at the Body&Soul festival in Westmeath giving close to 3000 festival goers the opportunity to watch the match live.
Over 2 million viewers tuned in over the weekend to watch RT s extensive Euros coverage on RT 2 across Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. RT 2's UEFA EURO 2016 coverage continues this evening with Russia versus Wales live from Toulouse at 7.00pm followed by highlights of all the day's action at 10.30pm.
Additionally there were 92,000 live streams for the Republic of Ireland v Belgium game on RT Player. To date there has been a total of 845,800 streams of RT 's UEFA Euro 2016 coverage on RT Player and 3.3 million page impressions of Euro 2016 content across RT .ie and RT News Now App.
The Republic of Ireland's crucial game against Italy will be broadcast on Wednesday evening exclusively live on RT 2 television, streamed live on RT Player and will have full live commentary on RT Radio 1. Live commentary is also available in Irish on the RT Player.
