Today, WIF (formerly known as Women In Film), announced the 2025 WIF Fellowship class. Launched in 2023 in celebration of WIF's 50th anniversary, the fellowship is designed to support and advance the careers of women, nonbinary, and trans professionals from all areas of the entertainment industry through a yearlong program of mentorship, master classes, career strategy sessions, and industry network-building.
WIF has confirmed more than 50 members for its WIF Fellowship Program for this year, from 740 applications. The third year of this fellowship brings together cohorts of directors, writers, cinematographers, producers, line producers, executives, representatives, artisans and below-the-line crewmembers for a year of collaboration, education, networking and individualized support. For many of the sessions, multiple Fellowship cohorts will convene together for networking and community-building across disciplines. More information on the 2025 WIF Fellowship class can be found HERE.
The WIF Fellowship is designed for mid-career professionals with clearly defined goals, who are located, at least in part, within the Los Angeles area to capitalize on WIFs local network and the programs in-person programming. The program offers each fellow at least six mentoring sessions with their cohort and a complimentary mentor team, composed of professionals across business and craft sectors of the industry.
"As our ever-evolving industry faces extreme hardships, community is an essential resource for rising professionals," says WIF Deputy Director Maikiko James. "WIF is honored to champion this exemplary class of Fellows during a pivotal moment in their careers."
Previous program participants include directors Caroline Lindy (Your Monster) and Yoko Okumura (Unseen); composer Germaine Franco, the first Latina to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score (Encanto, 2022); and filmmaker Elizabeth Mirzaei, an Oscar nominee for Best Documentary Short in 2021. Fellowship alumni have gone on to work with leading companies such as Netflix, Marvel, Disney, AMC Networks, SyFy, and Fuzzy Door Productions, as well as A+E, LuckyChap, MTV, Echo Lake, Davis Entertainment, Color Force, Fifth Season, Tomorrow Studios, and many others. The 2025 WIF Business Fellowship cohort is made possible through the generous support of STARZ and its #TakeTheLead initiative, which champions the advancement of women and underrepresented voices in the entertainment industry. The WIF Director and Cinematography Fellowship circles are generously supported by Netflix.
