Remote Technology Allowed Production Team in Burbank to Direct Live Show for a Second Time due to Scrubbed Launch

On Saturday at 3:22 p.m. EDT SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on board successfully launched into orbit from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The first attempt on Wednesday, May 27 was scrubbed due to weather at Cape Canaveral.

The talent and hosts for the live pre-show Space Launch Live (part 2): America Returns to Space regrouped again and included Katy Perry, MythBusters' Adam Savage, former astronaut Mike Massimino and NASA engineer-turned-YouTuber Mark Rober, who all appeared remotely from their homes. The live show was broadcast on Discovery and online at the SpaceX website.

PSSI's CK35 mobile teleports have been staged at the production studio in Burbank all week long and during the live broadcasts they ingested over 30 discrete feeds via satellite, fiber and IP for remote production and re-distribution of the show around the world.

Nextologies NXT-4 and NXT-LITE technology and gear was deployed to the show producers in Burbank and talent at their homes and in ready mode since the first launch window opened earlier this week. The producers on standby utilized the NXT-4 gear to remotely control robo-control the cameras. Once the video feeds were received from PSSI, the production company worked their magic and Nextologies handed off the video to the producers and talent at their respective locations.

The live show on Wednesday served as a dress rehearsal; but it took an epic amount of communication to stay in place and be able regroup so quickly.
