Evertz Technologies, an industry leader in video network innovation, announced the launch of Evertz EXE Video Service Routing Platform. Featuring over 46 Tb/s of switching capacity (23Tb/s full duplex, supporting 2304 10GE ports or 192 100GE ports) per single chassis, the Evertz EXE is a powerful modern SDN switching platform.
In the emerging world with total network connectivity, annual traffic is projected to exceed 1 zettabyte annually by 2017 and video will account for over 65%of the traffic. With over 1700 SDN packet video switch fabrics installed and in operation amongst the worlds' largest sports, movie, and primetime content creators, Evertz has the experience and understands the performance requirements needed to deliver robust solutions for broadcasters and those looking to host broadcast operations as a service.
With Evertz SDVN Triple-play handling which includes MAGNUM (Route and Traffic Engineering Management), VLPRO (NMS OSS), and Mediator (Network Function Automation); Broadcasters, Datacenter IAAS owners, and Service providers can unleash the true potential of 10GbE /100GbE IP-Ethernet for Video.
The majority of large scale broadcast build outs today require a minimum switching capacity of 1152 1152 ports of 3Gb/s -1080p/60fps in and out, says Rakesh Patel, CTO of Evertz Technologies Limited. Extrapolating this to the world of UHDTV 4K/60 and Super UHDTV 8K/60 requires switching capacities in the order of 16-30Tb/s. Realizing this many years in advance and understanding the scale of bandwidth required, Evertz set out to build the right solution. The EXE-VSR40, with its video aware CLEAN SLATE data plane and video centric switching platform, is able to control and switch the massive bandwidths required to support UHDTV, and at the scale of operations required to produce the high quality content that viewers have come to expect at all resolutions.
Content creators, broadcasters, and IAAS Data center operators wishing to host network virtualized video functions now and in the future, are able to make the right long term investment decision today for an emerging shift to 4K-8K/60 live production. The EXE-VSR40 provides the bandwidth and context aware switching required to take advantage of massive Ethernet bandwidth and connectivity without necessarily requiring compression.
The EXE-VSR40 is the only video aware Ethernet switching platform with support for both video centric line interface modules, and more data centric 10GE, 60GE, 100GE interfaces.
