SBS Supports 2017 FECCA Conference

SBS was the principal media partner and major supporter of the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Council of Australia (FECCA) Conference 2017 in Darwin, Northern Territory. The biannual Conference provides SBS with an opportunity to connect with key stakeholders and showcase our distinctive content and services to the multicultural and Indigenous audiences that we serve every day.

In addition to promotion of the conference, SBS had an active participation during the event, starting with the SBS Viceland's The Feed presenter Patrick Abboud, who hosted the FECCA Conference Youth Day. The event featured SBS's Harmony Art Collective workshop, in partnership with the Department of Social Services and amBUSH Gallery, engaging 60 students from Darwin High School.

At the conference opening, a preview of upcoming SBS content was played to all attendees, followed by keynote addresses from Senator the Hon. Zed Seselja, Assistant Minister for Social Services and Multicultural Affairs, Hon Tony Burke MP, Shadow Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Australia, Darwin Mayor Kon Vatskalis and Race Discrimination Commissioner Dr Tim Soutphommasane.

Mandi Wicks, SBS Director, Audio and Language Content, presented on the Language' panel, Clare O'Neil, SBS Director, Corporate Affairs, spoke at the Contemporary Multiculturalism' discussion and Tanya Orman, NITV Channel Manager, contributed to the Storytelling' session.

Christophe Mallet, SBS's French Executive Producer, spoke to a number of attendees at the event, and NITV Northern Territory correspondent Elliana Lawford covered the conference for SBS World News.

The SBS Exhibitor Booth promoted SBS On Demand, NITV, SBS Learn, the SBS Radio app and Diwali VR and received excellent engagement across the three days.

The FECCA Gala Dinner was attended by the SBS teams across Corporate Affairs, Audio and Language Content and News and Current Affairs, and welcomed a key note speech from SBS CEO and Managing Director, Michael Ebeid AM.
