Julia Davis award-winning comedy Hunderby to return to Sky Atlantic

Hunderby returns to Sky Atlantic with a two-hour special, with filming due to commence this Spring. The British Comedy Award-winning comedy from BAFTA winning writer and actress Julia Davis picks up where Series 1 left off...

Set in an isolated rural parish in the early 1800s, Hunderby is a twisted Austen world of doomed romance, closet homosexuality and accidental incest. Its period drama deconstructed by the?dark and absurd humour that has become Julia Davis trademark.

This two-part special finds Hunderby still reeling from the revelations of the series finale. Put-upon heroine Helene wants a happy life with her new baby and the dashing Dr Foggerty. She is thwarted, as ever, by the wicked machinations of housekeeper Dorothy (Julia Davis) and the bitter jealousy of Foggertys sister/wife Crippled Hesther. Dorothy herself will not rest till she has bagged the Master of Hunderby, Pastor Edmund, though hes been crushed by the fat wife he thought dead and led astray by the sexually dubious Brother Joseph. Two newcomers to Hunderby add to the drama - an irresistible French sexpot and a homophobic locum pastor with a taste for hanging.

Hunderby Revisited will sit on Sky Atlantic alongside great comedy from the US, including HBO's acclaimed comedies including Girls, Silicon Valley and Togetherness. From the UK, Sky Atlantic will also welcome back Norfolk's favourite son, Alan Partridge, in brand new Mid Morning Matters later this year.

Hunderby Revisited is a Baby Cow Production for Sky Atlantic HD. Hunderby Revisited was commissioned by Lucy Lumsden, Head of Comedy at Sky. Baby Cow Productions' Henry Normal and Lindsay Hughes will serve as Executive Producers. Ted Dowd will produce the series, and Tony Dow will direct. It is written by Julia Davis and Barunka OShaughnessy.

This latest commission continues Sky's wider investment into original comedy and follows a new series of Ruth Jones' warm Welsh comedy drama Stella which has just launched on Sky 1. Next month Chris O'Dowd's multi award winning Moone Boy will return and, later this year, Sky will be bringing customers more new comedy including the second series of Yonderland and Doll & Em, along with the all new After Hours, written by Molly Naylor and John Osborne and directed by Craig Cash.
