It all started several years ago when an elderly Hayes-Barton Baptist Church (HBBC) member was hospitalized and unable to make it to church for the Sunday service. Distraught by this and also realizing that other Church members faced the same problem, she set up an endowment to have the Church service broadcast live on TV so that everyone in the community could enjoy the service each and every Sunday no matter their situation. The HBBC Sunday service started airing in the spring of 2009 each and every Sunday at 11a-12n on FOX 50 TV. This live one-hour service proved to be a big undertaking but the FOX 50 team was instrumental in working with the HBBC to allow for a seamless production and bring the service to an average of 12,000 households every Sunday.
Last week, FOX 50 Account Executive Keith Hilton finalized a 3-year deal that will continue the partnership with HBBC through March 2017.
Confronted with the high demand for paid programming in the market and especially this particular time slot, we were able to lock in a 3- year contract with HBBC with a modest 15% rate increase which will allow the Church and FOX 50 to continue to serve the community with quality programming, said Hilton.
