Jaime de Armi n, Goya of Honor 2014 La Junta Directiva de la Academia acuerda la distinci n al realizador y guionista por una dedicaci n apasionada al medio cinematogr fico desde los a os sesenta, la creaci n de un cine comprometido con su tiempo y el potencial de historias ideadas siempre alejadas de los convencionalismos .
Con cierta congoja y alegr a Jaime de Armi n ha recibido la noticia de ser el Goya de Honor 2014 otorgado por la Academia de Cine. Toca que sea el honor fico porque ya no hacemos cine. Un cineasta nunca se retira, tengo una comedia casi terminada y escribo casi todos los d as. Los que son como yo no podemos jubilarnos porque lo hacemos nicamente cuando nos vamos a la triste fosa , manifest emocionado.
La calle del Prado en Madrid, colindante a la castiza Plaza Santa Ana y el sagrado Teatro Espa ol, vio nacer en marzo de 1927 a un cineasta singular, l cido, prol fico y talentoso. Hijo de Luis de Armi n, periodista en El Heraldo de Madrid' y de la actriz Carmen Oliver, que alej sus pasos de la interpretaci n tras pasar por la vicar a, el peque o Jaime parec a condenado desde su nacimiento a mezlarse en su trayectoria con el mundo art stico y cultural. Era tan solo un chaval cuando tras una nueva incursi n de su madre en el teatro, Jaime de Armi n se cruz en su camino con Fernando Fern n G mez.
Fue un ni o de la guerra, tal y como l mismo declar - Viv la guerra estando presente en los grandes acontecimientos. Yo ten a siete a os y recuerdo que mis padres y yo nos fuimos de Madrid. En el camino nos enteramos de que hab an matado a Calvo Sotelo, camino de Vitoria vi c mo ca a el avi n del general Mola, y en Par s, siendo mi padre corresponsal de guerra, asist al t rmino de la II Guerra Mundial. Todo esto me gustar a contarlo en una pel cula. Son muchas las generaciones traumatizadas por la guerra -. La Guerra Civil la pas en San Sebasti n, estudi Derecho en la capital y en 1957 se lanz a escribir un libro -Biograf a del circo fue considerado por algunos cr ticos como obra maestra en su g nero-. Tampoco se le resistieron el periodismo, ya que desde muy joven fue colaborador en revistas como Fotos' y D game', y la dramaturgia, pues escribi para las tablas piezas como Eva sin manzana -premio Calder n de la Barca en 1953-, Sinfon a acabada, Nuestro fantasma -premio Lope de Vega-, Caf del Liceo y Paso a nivel, entre otras.
Pero lo suyo iba a ser el cine. Al contraer matrimonio con la int rprete Elena Santonja, a Jaime de Armi n se le abrieron las puertas de Televisi n Espa ola, casa en la que comenz escribiendo como negro' para ella y el espacio Entre nosotras'. No saldr a bien aquella experiencia al ser ambos expulsados de la cadena p blica al sentirse aludida la esposa de un ministro al oir en televisi n que alguien ten a cara de pera , pero desde entonces las relaciones del realizador madrile o con TVE ser an constantes. Fue el responsable en esa etapa de series como Las doce caras de Juan, Galer a de maridos , Tiempo y hora o F bulas. Escribi mano a mano con Narciso Ib ez Serrador Historias de la frivolidad, programa especial que ganar a el Gran Premio de Montreux.
Ser a su amigo Adolfo Marsillach el que le propusiese para su primera aparici n como guionista en unos t tulos de cr dito cinematogr ficos -El secreto de M nica, de Jos Mar a Forqu (1961)-. A partir de ah , otros guiones le fueron encargados: La becerrada, Las gemelas, El juego de la verdad, Un tiro por la espalda, Tengo 17 a os, Yo he visto la muerte, La muerte viaja demasiado, hasta debutar en 1969 como director de cine con Carola de d a, Carola de noche, filme protagonizado por Pepa Flores y Tony Isbert que contaba una historia tras el triunfo de la revoluci n, la de la joven y hermosa heredera al trono que abandona su pa s para salvar su vida.

Tal y como reza el Diccionario de Cine Espa ol, editado por la Academia de Cine y coordinado por Borau, un creador personal y respetado que, a finales de los a os ochenta regresa con gran xito a la ficci n televisiva a trav s de dos populares series interpretadas por Paco Rabal: Juncal y Una gloria nacional . Articulista en El Mundo' y ABC', productor junto a Teo Escamilla a trav s de la compa a Serva Films, Medalla de Oro de las Bellas Artes, padre de dos hijos tambi n dedicados al medio audiovisual - lvaro y Eduardo- son algunos de los datos que podr an completar la biograf a excepcional de este hombre de cine.
