The Queens Awards for Enterprise are approved by British Queen Elizabeth II

Four AV companies have secured accolades at the Queen's Awards for Enterprise, with Brompton Technology, Exterity, Adder and Peerless-AV earning awards in the international trade category.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise is a UK government organised awards scheme approved by British Queen Elizabeth II for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting of opportunity though social mobility. 220 UK businesses received the awards this year across four categories.

Winners of the awards are invited to a royal reception, with the presentation of the award carried out at the winning company's headquarters by Queen Elizabeth II's representatives, a Lord-Lieutenant.

The Queen's Awards flag can be flown from a winning company's head office, with the emblem able to be used in marketing materials, with a grant of appointment (an official certificate) and a commemorative crystal trophy being awarded.

The awards are valid for a five-year period, with winners in the international trade category being tasked with demonstrating substantial business growth in overseas earning and commercial success for their business size and sector through outstanding achievement over three years or continuous achievement over six years.

Brompton Technology won an award in the international trade category, as Richard Mead, managing director, Brompton said: It is really gratifying to be recognised with such a prestigious award, and we want to thank all our partners globally who have been such an important part of this success story.

It is all the more poignant to be receiving it at such a difficult time for our industry and the world in general.

Exterity were also winners in the international trade category, one of eight companies based in Scotland to be recognised for the awards.

Exterity has reported an 85% growth in exports over the last three years and has supplied multilingual sales and support around the world. Colin Farquhar, Exterity CEO commented: Since our inception in 2001, we have always focused on providing the best solutions, brought to the market by the best people, establishing connections across the world, whilst proudly sticking to our roots as a Scottish business.

Peerless-AV won an award for international trade, with the company now represented in many EU countries and expanding into the Middle East and Africa. Keith Dutch, managing director EMEA, Peerless-AV commented: We are obviously delighted to receive this prestigious Royal accolade as it recognises the hard work and commitment we have invested to develop our international business. I am confident that this respected award, and its globally recognised symbol, will drive our export business and the worldwide standing of Peerless-AV to new heights.

Adder Technology were also listed as winners of the international trade category for outstanding short term growth in overseas sales over the last three years , with overseas sales rising by 69% overall. Adrian Dickens, founder and CEO, Adder said: We are extremely proud to win another Queen's Award this time recognizing our International Trade efforts. Earlier in the year, we were delighted to announce a multi-million dollar investment to support our global expansion, and I consider this accolade as an acknowledgement of the fantastic work undertaken by the team at Adder. This award will surely add to the momentum of the organisation's growth as it reinforces our commitment to improving the connectivity needs of our customers.

A royal reception for awards winners will take place later in the year to celebrate the winners achievements.
