Calling all fans of Deacon Blue. The legendary Scottish Pop Rock band is coming to South Africa for the first time ever. And tickets go on sale today.

DEACON BLUE IS COMING TO SA FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER It's official. The legendary Scottish Pop Rock band, Deacon Blue, is coming to South Africa early next year. This will be their first show ever on SA soil.

We are excited to announce our first ever shows in South Africa, it's a country that we have wanted to get to for many years, and these shows, both outdoors in beautiful parks, will be really special, says Ricky Ross, one of the band members.

Thirty-five years after the success of their debut single, Dignity, and millions of record sales later, Deacon Blue are digging out all their old 45s - the Top 10s, the favourites, the sing-a-long rarities - and touring South Africa for the first time in February 2024.

The band, led by husband-and-wife Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh, has always thrived onstage and will entrain local crowds with a selection of their hits.

ECLECTIC MIX SOUNDS LIKE NO OTHER Ross, co-vocalist Lorraine McIntosh, Dougie Vipond (drums), Jim Prime (keyboards), Gregor Philp (guitar), and Lewis Gordon (bass) will perform well-loved songs like Dignity, Loaded, Wages Day, Real Gone Kid, I'll Never Fall In Love Again, Your Swaying Arms, Twist & Shout, Your Town, The Hipsters and City Of Love. And so many more.

The multi-platinum pop/rockers first appeared on the music scene during the mid-'80s. After a short break during the 90s, the group performed again in the 21st century.

Their sound has been described as a sophisticated meld of rock, pop, jazz, blues, Celtic soul, and folk music.

Thursday, 22 February 2024, at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town and Saturday, 24 February 2024, at Marks Park in Emmarentia, Johannesburg

General admission tickets (Phase 1) sell for R595 + R35 Fee.
