Cheseaux, Switzerland - 30 June, 2015 - SmarDTV, a Kudelski Group (SIX:KUD.S) company, today announced that Continental Satellite Limited (CONSAT) in Nigeria will enhance its direct-to-home (DTH) service with its conditional access modules (CAM). After a successful launch in 2014 using NAGRA anyCAST content protection and following the continued adoption of digital TV services in Nigeria, the operator's pay-TV service, CONSAT TV, will soon be available to any owner of a Integrated Digital Televisions (IDTVs) incorporating a CI+ interface.
CONSAT will become the satellite platform of choice for low to middle income earners in Nigeria, said Mayokun Okunola, CEO of CONSAT. Operating from Nigeria with cutting edge technology, CONSAT services are affordable and provide compelling content for viewers. iDTVs with satellite tuners combined with a conditional access module is an attractive way to provide a high-quality service encouraging customers towards digital TV.
The SmarDTV CAM module is a compelling plug-in solution that enables consumers to enjoy premium channels directly on their iDTVs without an external box. SmarDTV CAM modules embed the latest generation of NAGRA anyCAST content protection, ensuring the highest security for pay-TV content. Nigeria boasts 17 million TV households and is working to achieve analog-to-digital switch off by the end of 2015.

SmarCAM is a module relying on the DVB Common Interface (DVB-CI) and CI Plus standards, that plugs directly in the digital TV to decrypt premium pay-TV content. It's a non-intrusive solution, very simple to install as it does not require any new wires and is invisible once setup. It is operated directly from the TV set's remote control to maximize the ease of use, no additional remote control is required. These modules are very power-efficient, for a lower environmental impact.
CI Plus is a technical specification that adds additional security and features to the proven DVB Common Interface Standard that will allow CI Plus compatible consumer electronic devices, such as integrated Digital Televisions and set-top boxes, to access a wide range of pay-TV services via plug-in CI Plus modules wherever the CI Plus technology is supported by the local pay-TV provider.
