Between Two Runs: A Chairlift Interview with Lindsey Vonn
Sixteen years ago, Lindsey Vonn was volunteering in her home town for a race that this weekend she will strap up to compete for the gold! GoPro Athlete - Lindsey Vonn has been working extremely hard to jump back into the 2014/15 winter season and training for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship this weekend. After a long haul of ups and downs LV has made a spectacular comeback from her ACL surgery. The GoPro team had the opportunity to spend some days skiing with the her at Copper Mountain, during which we shared a chairlift and interviewed her about her feelings surrounding this season and the World Champs.
GoPro: You have had quite a road to recovery. Have you found GoPro to be a contributing tool in your rehabilitation process?
Lindsey Vonn: GoPro has been really important for me to get a different perspective on my training and my equipment. A lot of times you can only see certain angles with the coaches standing it in certain positions, so having the chesty or the GoPro on my ski helps give a different perspective and help with improvement on my training.
GoPro: What are some of the best training exercises to capture on GoPro?
Lindsey Vonn: I do the majority of my training in a normal training course on the mountain to perfect my technique throughout the course. I don't free ski that often, so my training is mainly focused on perfecting the gates.
GoPro: What are your thoughts on the World Champs coming to your home town, Vail?
Lindsey Vonn: I'm really excited for the world champs in Vail. It's my home town so it would be amazing to do well with my in front of my friends and family. There of lot of races before the World Champs so I'm just focused on that and getting back in the swing of this. Hopefully get some good momentum into the world champs!
GoPro: What does the memory card from Lindsey Vonn's GoPro look like at the end of 2015?'
Lindsey Vonn: My SD card would be hopefully filled with a lot of podium celebrations, champions calls being opened and a lots of celebrating!
GoPro: How do you enjoy the Fetch Mount? We know @LeoVonn loves it!
Lindsey Vonn: Leo loves the GoPro dog mount! Its really funny watching him play around in the snow and he loves going into the river and scaring away the fish so I can't fish! I originally started by using the Junior Chesty but now I'm really excited that they have an actual dog mount because its fun to put it on Leo and see what trouble he gets into
GoPro: You're wearing a chesty, a helmet mount, and a mount on your ski taking a lot of footage. At the end of the day when how do you review all of your footage and how does that work with your coaches?
Lindsey Vonn: I mostly review my footage through the GoPro App, which is my secret weapon that I keep just for me to review what I did well and didn't do well on each run.
