SBS's new locally produced Arabic and Mandarin television news bulletin - SBS News and SBS News - will premiere live on SBS On Demand this evening from 8pm AEST.

The new programs are produced by two dedicated teams of journalists who will be providing impartial coverage, insightful context and balanced analysis of the major national and international stories, in-language, every weeknight.

SBS News, SBS's first locally produced Arabic television bulletin, is presented by journalists Nissrine Khadra, Ali Bahnasawy and Hadil AlSwaiedi, under the leadership of Executive Producer, Saleh Saqqaf. Journalists Jeff Kuan, Rena Li and Michelle Chen are bringing news in Mandarin to audiences on SBS News, with Executive Producer, Lili Zhou.

These new bulletins build on SBS's existing services for Australia's large and diverse Arabic and Mandarin-speaking communities including SBS Arabic24, SBS Mandarin, and digital offering SBS , as well as podcasting, digital news coverage and a growing collection of Australian and international programming available with Arabic and Mandarin subtitles on SBS On Demand.

SBS Director of News and Current Affairs, Mandi Wicks, said the introduction of the bulletins is an exciting next step in expanding SBS's multilingual services.

We are thrilled to be launching these bespoke SBS news bulletins for Australias growing and diverse Arabic and Mandarin-speaking communities, created by an exceptional team of bilingual journalists dedicated to delivering a service designed for the communities they are a part of. Its also demonstration of our continuing commitment to innovating and evolving our services, ensuring our news is more accessible and meeting the needs of an increasingly culturally and linguistically diverse Australia.

Premiering live on SBS On Demand from this evening, SBS News and SBS News will also soon be available to watch on free-to-air television on SBS WorldWatch - SBS's new multilingual news channel - when it launches later this year. Both bulletins will feature in prime time on the new channel alongside an extensive line-up of news programming from leading international broadcasters in more than 30 languages.

The bulletins are part of SBS's continued expansion of the multilingual services it has been delivering for more than 45 years, and its ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive news and information across its network - in English, through SBS World News, and in more than 60 languages across SBS Radio services, podcasting, and digital platforms.
