OASYS Chameleon used for TV channel launch

OASYS Automated Playout has created a customised playout solution for the newly-launched NOW That's What I Call Music TV channel. The channel, available on Sky and Freeview is a joint venture between Universal Music, Sony Music and All Around the World TV (AATW TV). NOW is the group's fourth channel to use the OASYS Chameleon playout solution.

The new workflow ensures that NOW's daily playlist, including all clips and adverts, can be auto-scheduled using metadata to filter graphics and acquire information about multiple later events prior to scheduling. The solution also generates custom transitions between video clips using NOW's graphics projects as well as allowing automation of the process of dynamically adding voiceovers onto clips, removing the requirement for editing and post production.

The OASYS integration with our systems was far and away the most advanced workflow implementation I have seen in a music channel and, importantly, less than a tenth of the price of some of their competitors. said Simon Sadler, COO, AATW TV.

The new workflow works really well, the extra control its given us has enabled a vast leap in programming quality and the ratings seem to have followed with it. Graphically, the output is much improved and being able to get into and out of videos quicker with the transitions means were playing a few more tracks an hour and the whole thing generally feels faster paced and more vibrant, added Sadler.
