BBC Studioworks was once again involved in the red carpet launch of this year's Strictly Come Dancing with the event filmed at Television Centre for the first time in seven years.

The red carpet event is part of the show's launch episode, which airs on BBC One on Saturday 7th September.

The build for the event took Studioworks' scenic team three days to complete with the main set constructed the Friday before filming on August bank holiday, followed by the technical and sound rig on the Sunday.

For the first time, this year's red-carpet action was captured by eight cameras and included HotHeads, a Steadicam, two track cameras and a 44ft Technocrane. In addition, an EagleCam (an airborne remote-controlled camera), flew up and down two wires suspended from the roof of Studioworks' Studio TC1 and across the forecourt.

The sound team employed a mix of personal hand mics and radio mics to provide the best audio coverage possible, ensuring the dialogue pick-up was fully controlled and avoiding any noise spill. The technical crew relied on the infrastructure of Studioworks' neighbouring Studio TC1, so they could plug into the sound desks, vision mixers and lighting desks already in place on site.

The event was recorded tapelessly across nine streams and edited at Studioworks' Elstree post production village.

Following the red-carpet launch event, Strictly Come Dancing moves to Studioworks' 15,700 sq. ft. George Lucas Studio in Elstree for the series run. The crew will implement the production's technical workflow which features an 11-camera set-up, including a 30' MovieBird Techocrane, four Pedestals, a radio Steadicam and four handheld/lightweight tripod cameras.

The production will make use of four of Studioworks' Avid Symphony suites rushes will be ingested, logged, edited, reviewed and incorporated into the main show, and Sunday's results show.

BBC Studioworks also provides post production services to companion show, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, with five Avid Symphony suites dedicated to the programme.
