Singer and actor Sandile Mfusi who's popularly known by his stage name as Masandi recently opened up about his new role as Kwanda Buthelezi in Uzalo season eight.

The new season premieres tonight (4 March) on SABC1 AT 20:30.

SANDILE MFUSI BAGS NEW ROLE Actor-musician Sandile Mfusi was recently announced as one of the nine new faces that has joined Mzansi's most-watched soapie - Uzalo as Kwanda Buthelezi.

Mfusi has joined the show with seasoned actors Omuhle Gela, Thembi Nyandeni and Siyabonga Radebe and many more.

The actor will play the role of Kwanda Buthelezi- who is described as a troublesome charmer and gentleman.

He tells Drum Magazine in an interview that bagging this role was part of a journey he wanted to embark upon as an actor.

He adds that it's been his lifelong dream to join the show and he was filled with excitement when he found out that his dream came true.

PLAYING KWANDA BUTHELEZI IN UZALO' Mfusi also revealed that his character -Kwanda Buthelezi is very interesting as he's a charming individual who gets his way a lot.

The actor-musician was over the moon when he found out about the role because he has high respect for Uzalo.

I have been wanting to get on the set. I have done two episodes so far.

This is one of the biggest opportunities that I have had in my career to showcase my talent in acting.

I feel so blessed and honoured to be part of the cast, especially because they are the number one soapie in the country. I am really grateful.

Kwanda is an exciting character to watch because you do not know what he is about to do and there is a lot of anticipation.

I do not relate to the character at all, he is something I will never be and have never been.

His relationships with other characters are very strange because of the person he is and the life he lives.

I only hope that I make it interesting and worth watching.
