Durban-born Hlosiwe Mthalane, who's popularly known as DJ Hlo reveals she's scored a role in Uzalo as a judge.

DJ HLO: I AM A JUDGE' The musician Hlosiwe Mthalane, DJ Hlo, who became famous after winning Ukhozi FM's summer song of the year in 2021, is set to appear in Uzalo on SABC1 next week, according to Sowetan.

The musician tells the publication that she's always wanted to act in a TV production, scoring this role is a step closer to achieving her dream, and being part of Uzalo reignited a childhood dream of being an actress.

Mthalane will play herself and will be one of the judges in a talent search competition in the SABC 1 soapie.

The DJ adds that she shot the talent search scene with the Stained Glass TV production a few weeks ago.

UZALO' CONFIRMS HER ROLE Uzalo's publicist Nomfundo Zondi confirms to the publication that the DJ has bagged a role in the SABC1 soapie.

I confirm that DJ Hlo will appear on Uzalo. And she will start appearing on the show next week.

The DJ also tells Sowetan that she might start appearing early next week and looks forward to her appearance in the soapie and the reaction from her fans.

I enjoyed every moment being on that set, though it takes the whole day to shoot. I am a judge and I like that I play myself. I learned a lot by being there. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes before we as viewers see the final product on television. It was a great experience for me.

While I was on that set I was imagining myself as an actor. I always wanted to act since I was young. Being on that set reminded me that I am a step closer to that reality. I will definitely pursue acting because I don't want to focus only on music, I want to spread my wings.
