Past in Focus as Sharjah Press Club Hosts Media Fam...

The Sharjah Press Club (SPC) of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), in cooperation with the Sharjah Museums Authority, on Tuesday organised a familiarisation tour of the Sharjah Heritage Museum, located in the Heart of Sharjah, for around 20 journalists from across the UAE.

Members of the media were briefed on the history of the widely acclaimed Sharjah Heritage Museum, the significance of its various sections and halls, celebrating the rich past and heritage of the country and the region. The museum is divided into various sections and halls such as Lifestyle, Environment, Festivals, Livelihoods, Traditional Knowledge and Oral Literature etc.

On this occasion, the Museum also hosted a workshop titled Rehan Al Nafous' for visiting members of the media in order to introduce them to the various types of perfumes that were used in the past and their importance in the lives of Emirati ancestors. The workshop turned into a lively and interesting interaction with many in the audience posing several questions about the UAE's history and heritage. The visitors lauded the Museum for its painstaking efforts to preserve the past.

According to Huda Al Dahah, Director of the Sharjah Press Club, the media familiarisation trip is part of the SPC's community engagement efforts and aimed at highlighting the Emirates tourism and heritage sites. Besides strengthening positive cooperation with government entities, the initiative also effectively contributes to comprehensive development goals of the nation, she added.

Al-Dahah said that the Sharjah Heritage Museum is distinguished for celebrating and preserving Emirati heritage and authentic cultural legacy of the people of the UAE.

She lauded the Sharjah Museums Authority and the Sharjah Heritage Museum for making the event a success. She also thanked Shurooq (Sharjah Investment and Development Authority) for offering its special tourist bus for the tour.

Noura Ahmed Al Mughni, Curator of the Sharjah Heritage Museum, explained the vital role being played by the Museum in the service of heritage, preserving it as a testimony to the ancient history of the UAE and its rich past. She also thanked the Sharjah Press Club for the initiative.
