Slit Lamp Module: Slit Lamp Module for Enhanced Diagnosis and Easy Documentation

With an accessory for slit lamps, ZEISS is now expanding current SL 115 Classic, SL 120 and SL 130 and older slit lamp models with the possibility of recording images and videos in high definition. This means that eye care professionals can now benefit from leading-edge recording possibilities for a broad spectrum of the companys slit lamps. In the development of the module a sharp focus was placed on achieving both uncomplicated operation and a compact design.

Developed by ZEISS in collaboration with Nobel laureate Professor Allvar Gullstrand around 100 years ago, the slit lamp has remained the most commonly used instrument in ophthalmology to this very day. Image or video recordings facilitate documentation, enable comparisons with previous diagnoses and permit highly effective patient education, regardless of the site of use.

"The development of a camera module with excellent ease of use for a broad line of ZEISS slit lamps allows our customers to benefit from a convenient and efficient workflow in their practice," says Ludwin Monz, President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG.

The module, which offers a maximum resolution of five megapixels, can be directly connected to a PC with a Windows operating system or the ZEISS SL Workstation via a USB connector.

The SL Imaging Module has already received official approval as a slit lamp accessory in many countries.
