Hitachi Kokusai Electric Turkey, a company which develops broadcast camera technology, has finished the design, structure and installing of a DSNG (Digital Satellite News Gathering) vehicle for Fox TV s Turkish division. The upgrade on the Ford Transit vehicle included structural coachwork and the installation of PAL S DriveNews PDA-150 1.5m satellite antenna system and Xicom s XTD- 400K high power amplifier (HPA).

The new sophisticated uplink facility will allow the broadcaster to transmit audio and video signals direct to Fox s broadcast centre via satellite from remote news locations, from an Outside Broadcast (OB) production vehicle situated at sports or cultural events, or from a field-based ENG camera crew.

Necip K r n, CTO at Fox TV, said Hitachi has created a mobile uplink facility which provides features and functions that directly address our technical and operational needs. The Hitachi team was able to integrate the very best technology from different manufacturers and create a DSNG vehicle that will meet our needs now and long into the future.

Immediate high performance as well as plug and play broadcasting can be achieved through the integration of PAL s DriveNews PDA-150 motorized, 3- axis autopointing antenna system, which comes with a shell and a 150cm dual optical reflector, and the PAC-350 antenna controller.

The outdoor design of Xicom s XTD-400K high power amplifier eradicates the need for an amplifier shelter as well as a long waveguide run between the amplifier and the antenna feed horn. The HPA is designed for low cost installation and long life with RF filters, cooling, and monitoring and control systems all self-contained.
