Annie Hsu

Annie Hsu is an ally. Through her work as Ally Ambassador in the LGBTQ + Allies employee resource group, Hsu helped drive programs that contributed to putting Ericsson onto the HRC Corporate Equality Index.

More so than ever before, we are seeing a commitment and intention to ensure that the company values are expressed in decision making, in policy and opportunities for connection, Hsu said. It's also a great place for this community because what you see as well is this ecosystem that makes it a safe place to be who you are.

With a brother who is part of the LGBT community, Hsu has experienced firsthand just trying to support someone being themselves. Sharing these stories is important.

People are affected in a positive way by the relational aspect of similar struggles in just being human and being yourself.

As an ally, Hsu said she constantly evaluates herself in terms of unconscious biases and level-setting to be able to have a frame of mind equivalent to what she outwardly supports.

If you're going to fight for something, the right to love for yourself and others is fundamental, she said. It's lovely to hear because sometimes you think or underestimate the common experiences we all have.

At work, equal treatment is just as important, especially since many states do not have policies to protect the LGBT community from discrimination. Being on the Corporate Equality Index demonstrates to Ericsson's customers that we have shared values and to potential employees that Ericsson is committed to staying a safe place to work.

We're so proud to achieve that mark of 100 on the HRC Corporate Equality Index, but it's only the beginning, Hsu said. It's exciting to have this momentum and see where we can continue to drive forward with employees and with our customers.
