Peter Mier aumes the Presidency of AMETIC with the aim of giving new impetus to the employers of the sector

Peter Mier assumes the Presidency of AMETIC with the aim of giving new impetus to the employers of the sector Commitment to work for the benefit of the whole of the sector, supporting the development of digital technologies in Spain; upgrading and updating of the statutes of the Association; stabilize the social and economic structure of the entity; and policy dialogue, the key points that aims to cement the exercise of office.

The general Assembly of the Multisectorial Association of companies in the electronic, of information technologies and communication, telecommunications and of digital contents (AMETIC) has chosen Peter Mier as the new President. The Assembly of the Association has widely supported his candidacy, the only one that went to the electoral process. Mier replaces Jos Manuel de Riva who held the position since December of 2012.

Pedro Mier Albert (Figueres, 1952), Superior telecommunications engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (1975), MBA by ESADE (1983) and PADE from IESE (1997), was previously Vice President of AMETIC, President of the electronics industry Area and President of the Council of the institution in Catalonia. Also is member of the Committee scientific advisor of the CTTC (Center technology of telecommunications of Catalonia).

After his election, Mier said to be convinced of "the importance that civil society has a strong, representative and well-articulated, entity that is legitimate interlocutor with the public administrations to develop the digital economy, strengthening the role of the Spanish companies as actors in international markets and the economic well-being of our country". At the time that underlined that we are "in a moment of change accelerated in the society, in which technologies and digital services are the main factor of transformation and, therefore, an element that decisively marked its evolution". He has also assured that "we have the opportunity to be actors and not only consumers of products and services of the digital society, intensively supporting innovation, growth and development of our companies and the birth and expansion of new business initiatives".

New President of AMETIC has placed special emphasis on "commitment to work for the benefit of the whole of the sector to develop on a priority basis the aim of supporting the development of digital technologies in Spain, both in aspects related to the evolution and growth of the market (demand policies), as in what regards the development of the products and services manufactured and designed in our country (offer policies) and their international competitiveness".

In relation to organizational aspects of the entity, it has ensured that you promote "an update and implementation" to the day of the statutes of the Association, as a previous step to modernize and improve the internal performance and service partners. It has also noted his concern to stabilize the social and economic structure of the Association. Finally, it spoke of "policy of dialogue, pursuit of understanding and open, allowing the return of partners who left the Association and, in any case, look for points of convergence and common interest with all the companies and relevant agents of the sector".

A path linked to associations

Mier has developed an intense activity in the associative field and in defense of the Spanish technological industry. He has been founder and Chairman of ProEspacio (Association of Spanish companies in the space Sector) and AENTEC (Spanish Association of new technologies), and member of the Board of Directors of the Catalan employer Foment del Treball.

At the same time, Mier has developed a brilliant career that led him to found Mier Comunicaciones, society with a large and well-known international career in the field of transmitters and networks of TV and Digital Radio and electronic equipment on satellites that in 2014, after a successful career, joined the TRYO Aerospace Group in 1987.

Under his direction, Mier Comunicaciones, won multiple awards, including finalist in the first edition of the Prince Felipe business excellence in competitiveness and technological effort and the European Business Awards.

It is currently Director of the Group Premo, partner of Future Plus, society of Venture Capital investment in expansion of the sector companies electronic and ICT and shareholder and President of the Board of Directors of TRYO Aerospace & Electronics. Mier is also a member of the Space Angels Network, international network of Business Angels specializes in disruptive startups in the space sector.

Has been member of the Council Adviser of the Minister of industry and of the Minister of science and technology of the Government of Spain and of the Generalitat of Catalunya in themes of development technological and patron of Cotec, Foundation for the development of the innovation technological in Spain.

In the field European, has acted as Rapporteur invited by the Commissioner of industry of the EU in the days of discussion in the Parliament European of the proposed "An Integrated Industrial Policy for the Globalisation was" (2011)
