Popular actress Sannah Mchunu, who plays the fan-favourite character of Zodwa in Gomora discusses her popular role and is thanking South Africans for the love and support she's been receiving.

-- SANNAH MCHUNU: NGIYABONGA KAKHULU' The Gomora actress Sannah Mchunu, who was crowned the Favourite Actress at the DStv MVCA's awards this past Saturday for the role of Zodwa tells TshisaLIVE she really thought she didn't stand a chance in the favourite actress category.

Winning shows every woman that has the same background as me and the ones that think that it's too late, that anything is indeed possible.

Mchunu also took to her Instagram on Sunday to thank South Africans for the love.

HER OTHER POPULAR ROLES The much-loved actress is also known for her roles in Muvhango where she played Nomarussia, The River for the character of Matilda, Rhythm City as Machiliza, and The Queen as Tryphina.

Mchunu is also popular for her various roles in local productions such as; eKasi: Our Stories.

Mchunu also tells the publication that she sees herself as a natural actress and credits her abilities to her upbringing.

I grew up in the township, watching the township Zodwas, so I don't need to dig deep or go far to find her. I think South Africans relate to Zodwa because every township has its own Zodwa, so for them, it's close to home.

I have had so much fun acting on Gomora, I am allowed to play and explore the character of Zodwa the way I want to. It has been an absolute pleasure.

I have shared spaces with the amazing industry people and I get to play with Mam Connie Chiume (Sonto), who has also done phenomenal work in the industry. I receive a lot of love on the streets and everywhere I go.
