Netflix releases the official trailer and new photos of The Monster of Florence, the 4-episode TV series directed by Stefano Sollima, created by Leonardo Fasoli and Stefano Sollima, which will premiere Out Of Competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, and will be available only on Netflix on October 22, 2025, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the service in Italy.

With these words, director Stefano Sollima presents The Monster of Florence: Horror, to be truly told, must be faced, not avoided. And a story, to come through with clarity, without embracing a thesis, must begin at the very beginning. To recount it with honesty, respect, and rigor must still carry meaning. Not to solve, not to explain, but simply to remember. A way to remain close to those who were left there, forever in the night.

With four episodes, the series goes back to the origins of the Monster of Florence case, starting from the first inquiry, reconstructing one of the longest and most controversial investigations in Italian history. The story goes through documents, hypothesis and paths that are still debated today, retracing in particular the one known as the Sardinian lead .

The TV series, a production by The Apartment - a Fremantle company - and AlterEgo, is produced by Lorenzo Mieli, Stefano Sollima and Gina Gardini, stars Marco Bullitta, Valentino Mannias, Francesca Olia, Liliana Bottone, Giacomo Fadda, Antonio Tintis and Giordano Mannu.

SYNOPSIS:

Eight double murders.

Seventeen years of terror.

Always the same weapon.

A .22 caliber Beretta.

One of the longest and most complex Italian investigations into the first and most brutal serial killer in the countrys history: The Monster of Florence.

This story is based on ongoing legal proceedings and investigations.

In a story where there have been many possible monsters, over time and investigations, our story focuses on them, the possible monsters, from their point of view.

Because the monster, in the end, could be anyone.
