2 million people aged 15 and over watch TV daily on another screen, which is 82% more than 2 years ago , pointed out Julien Rosenvallon, head of TV at Mediam trie*, during the press presentation of the report L'ann e TV 2014. These TV viewers spend on these new screens around 4 minutes each day versus 3 minutes in 2012. According to the survey, French people have an average of 6.4 screens per household, which multiplies the opportunities to watch TV programs. The computer is teenagers' (over 15) second favorite screen to watch TV. Smartphone and tablets are then tied except for teenagers and young adults who spend more and more time to watch TV on their mobile phones (Smartphone is thus the preferred screen of 29 % of the 15-24), notes the study.

After years of records between 2011 and 2013, including the exceptional year of 2012 with a pick at 3h50, the duration of individual viewing shows a withdrawal of 6 minutes in 2014 in France. This duration of individual viewing, excluding timeshift or replay, goes from 3h42 to 3h36 per year. According to M diam trie, several factors explain this evolution: the tablet ownership rate, the weather and the lack of events (except the Sotchi Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup). However, non-linear TV watching (timeshift or replay) is increasing year by year, from 4 to 5 minutes between 2013 and 2014. According to M diam trie, 8.1 millions TV viewers watched daily non-linear or catchup TV programs on a TV screen in 2014, which represents an increase of 3 million a year.
