Anthony James Partners Serving as Technology Consultant for UNC Kenan Stadium Modernization

Anthony James Partners (AJP) is serving as technology consultant for a modernization project at the University of North Carolina's Kenan Stadium, covering new LED displays, ribbon boards, and a stadium-wide audio system. Construction is underway with the systems scheduled to be operational for the 2026 football season.

Kenan Stadium is one of the most recognizable venues in college athletics, and projects like this require a thoughtful balance between preserving tradition and delivering the technology that today's fans expect, says Michael Rowe, Chief Executive Officer, Anthony James Partners. The challenge isn't simply installing bigger displays or a new sound system. It's understanding how those systems will be used, how they support the fan experience, and how they create value for the university over the long term.

LED Display System

The project includes two end-zone LED displays measuring approximately 31.5 feet high by 106.5 feet wide and nine ribbon displays throughout the seating bowl, totaling more than 10,000 square feet of display area and more than 14.7 million LEDs.

Audio System

The audio system features a hybrid architecture combining distributed loudspeaker systems with a scoreboard-mounted point-source system using Fulcrum Acoustics loudspeakers. The design incorporates steerable line source technology, Powersoft Unica cloud-based amplifiers, and a QSC DSP platform.

AJP provided technology planning, system design, procurement support, and construction administration for the project.
