Perfectly Numb, coming of age drama announced on the French Riviera

Set on the dazzling French Riviera, Perfectly Numb is a film focusing on mental health issues associated with growing up in a heteronormative narrative.

Produced by Lilian Baksalevowicz and directed by award-winning British Drama TV director David Richardson, the LGBTQIA coming of age drama highlights the damaging internalised shame and mental health issues that shape the future of many people living against the hetero dominant narrative.

Writer Fraser Richardson, will play the lead in this short-film set on the French Riviera and he hopes it will give inspiration to all viewers and to challenge them to follow their hearts and to live their truth.

Perfectly Numb is an inspiring film that contrasts the depression of the lead with the glittering backdrop of the French Riviera. Its a statement saying that no matter where you are, or how far youve travelled, mental health issues can follow you there and sometimes to break out of that space you need to be true to yourself and to follow the path that makes you feel alive and authentic. Fraser said in a statement.

Baksalevowicz thinks that the film captures the spirit of friendship and the healing power of love in the face of a persons demons. Perfectly Numb is not just a young mans journey with his own mental health issues, its a reflection on the bigger issues in society of sexuality and how a heterodominant narrative can make people feel isolated and fearful, leading to bad life choices and mental health issues in later adult life.

Fraser, looking forward to working with his dad on his first film project said this I think that to be able to work closely with my dad on a project is really one of those special times in my life. Weve always been pitching film ideas to each other, especially on long car trips and to see one of these being made is very exciting. His support, especially when I came out, really took me out of a dark place, so in a way a lot of this journey weve shared and it just seems right that we are making it together.

Its rare to see such an experienced director be crewed for a first short film and its Davids experience that will make this a first short-film to remember.

Perfectly Numb will premiere in late November.
