Every Olympic sport requires its own arsenal of microphones and equipment to capture the necessary sound. Whether it was the slicing of skis coming down the slope or the cutting of a bobsled barreling its way along the track, NBC Sports' showing at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games was a symphonic array of sound. The audio production was given the 2023 Sports Emmy for Outstanding Audio/Sound Live Event.

At the ceremony, NBC Sports' Senior Director, Audio Engineering, Karl Malone, describes the difficulties of mixing a gargantuan show like the Olympics.
