A PlayBox Technology AirBox and TitleBox form the technical heart of a new high-definition digital television channel, Bright TV, now on air in Thailand. The system was installed by 9Pages Innovation, a leading specialist in the design and integration of broadcast infrastructure.
Like all new television channels, Bright TV was keen to adopted file-based production, post-production, archiving and playout, comments Mr W. Junchot, Senior Technical Manager at 9Pages Innovation. A key reason for choosing a PlayBox Technology solution is the relative ease with which an installed system can be upgraded to support future file standards. The main file formats currently used at Bright TV are HD-MPEG2 and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC but formats such as HD-XDCAM422 or HD AVC-Intra100 are on the horizon. PlayBox Technology systems provide fully stable ingest, editing, titling, storage, scheduling and transmission in any of todays commonly used file formats and can easily be upgraded to handle future file types. Bright TV is very pleased with the systems ease of operation, reliability and high quality playout. Useful additional factors are the support we are able to provide, both technical and in terms of operator training, from our headquarters in the same city.
The system installed at Bright TVs studios in central Bangkok includes AirBox and TitleBox servers for the master control room plus primary and secondary AirBox servers for the studio control room.
A universal SD/HD content playout and streaming server, AirBox is designed for continuous unattended operation. Every clip in the playlist, except the one which is currently playing, can be trimmed, edited or repositioned. Playlist order can be changed on-the-fly using commands such as skip-to-next or jump. Changes are performed seamlessly without stopping the current playout session. Live productions are facilitated by a Live Show clipboard which allows insertion and/or execution of various events or live streams. AirBox accepts formats such as MPEG1/2/H.264, HDV and DV streams from practically every known production platform.
An integral element of many PlayBox Technology systems, TitleBox allows the production and presentation of on-air graphics which can be controlled interactively. Customers can preconfigure the templates to match their requirements, eliminating any need for subsequent manual interference. TitleBox provides total control during each on-air session, including text selection, running speed and transitions.
