But why are there so many beliefs that date is more unlucky than other days of the year? Where did the idea come from that this particular day stands out? Does today really make anything different, and when can we expect to see the next superstitious date of the year?

Here's what you should know about these rare Fridays, which only strike a couple of times each year.

Friday the 13th and Superstitions There are many people who believe the number (13) and the date (Friday) is unlucky, or less lucky than other dates.

Because of this superstition, many hotels don't have a thirteenth floor. The same belief is why some people are sure that something unlucky is going to happen to them. Some people believe in this so much that they will even take a day off work on Friday the 13th.

According to USA Today, one of the reasons why people believe this combination is unlucky is an interpretation of Christianity. Judas, the person said to have betrayed Jesus, was the thirteenth guest at the Last Supper.

History.com also says that numerological interpretations of the thirteenth were considered unlucky' because some cultures used multiples of 12!

Many people believe that the number is unlucky, but without knowing why!

Could 13 be lucky? According to History.com, there are some world cultures that have considered the number to be the opposite: very lucky instead.

Thirteen was a special, lucky number to the ancient Egyptians and Greeks.

Is the number really as unlucky, or does it depend on who you ask?

LOTTO and number 13 According to LiveScience, there is some truth to the idea that the number 13 comes up less in lottery draws.

When a test run compared other numbers to thirteen, the number thirteen was drawn much less.

The next date for 2024 Fridays that fall on the thirteenth of the month doesn't happen often, just like blue moons and supermoons.

The next Friday the thirteenth will only happen in September, 2024.
