World of Wonder Shoots Series for Logo and Bravo at Hollywood Center Studios

Hollywood Center Studios recently provided shooting stages and other services to international entertainment company World of Wonder for two television series, RuPaul's Drag Race and Property Envy.

Billed as the ultimate in drag queen competitions, RuPaul's Drag Race shot its sixth season for Logo on Hollywood Center Studios' Stages 5 and 6. The show features real-life drag queens competing in often outrageous challenges for the title of America's Next Drag Superstar, with RuPaul serving in dual (male and female) roles.

At HCS, the show built several sets, including its principal set featuring a runway and judges panel. Other sets included a dressing room and a challenge arena. We needed extra space for talent dressing room and for our video village, recalls World of Wonder Senior Production Manager Michelle Palmer. In both cases, Hollywood Center took out walls to accommodate us-that was awesome.

Property Envy is a new talk show hosted by Stephen Collins and featuring property expert Jeff Lewis, interior designer Mary McDonald and real estate guru Brandie Malay discussing luxury real estate. It was shot on a contemporary living room set built on Hollywood Center Studios' 7000-square foot Stage 2 and took advantage of one of the studios' recently upgraded HD control rooms. Lighting and camera equipment were also part of the package.

The two shows couldn't have been more different in terms of their style, content and stage requirements, Palmer says. Hollywood Center has stages of varying sizes and so they were able to provide us with spaces that were just right for both shows.

We've wanted to work at Hollywood Center for a long time, Palmer adds. They are close to our production offices, the shooting spaces are intimate and the atmosphere is great-classic old Hollywood.

The sixth season of RuPaul's Drag Race debuts in early 2014 on Logo. Property Envy is airing now on Bravo.
