Digital key shapes future car connectivity

Digital keys are spawning new ownership and collaboration models

With Ericsson cloud technology, LYNK & CO delivers on their core brand promise of enabling new services through connectivity

LYNK & CO, hailed as the worlds most connected car after its launch in October 2016, has partnered with Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) to help shape the future of car connectivity. Thanks to Ericssons Connected Vehicle Cloud service and its leadership in Cloud and Internet of Things, LYNK & CO have demonstrated the worlds first built-in share function.

Research suggests that most cars sit unused more than 90 percent of the time. Ericssons digital key and LYNK & COs car sharing platform provides access to a LYNK & CO car through a smartphone enabling a cars owner to remotely grant access to their car. Via the LYNK & CO app, car owners can control, monitor and share their vehicle from their smartphone - or directly from the car.

The LYNK & CO brand was launched in October 2016 by Chinese car manufacturer Geely, which also owns the Volvo brand. The LYNK & CO 01 is the first car born completely in the digital age.

Connectivity is at the heart of the LYNK & CO brand whose cars offer a broad range of connected technologies aimed at making life easier. Applications displayed on a large central screen are permanently connected via on-board telematics to the LYNK & CO cloud which is powered by Ericsson. This opens up an ecosystem with almost limitless opportunities for the creation of features and services.
