Maraon Champ speeds ahead with TiVo-on-e-run

British Paralympic Gold medallist and double leg amputee, Richard Whitehead MBE, was given his own bespoke TiVo-on-the-run service by sponsors Virgin Media so he can watch his favourite films whilst completing a charity run from John O'Groats to Land's End.

The Paralympic champion watched his favourite running film, Chariots of Fire, whilst running south towards the Scottish border as he attempts 40 marathons in 40 days in aid of Scope and Sarcoma.

Equipped with a 50 full plasma HD screen, top-of-the-range Sony headphones and averaging around 6mph, Virgin Media turned Richard's support car into a dedicated mobile cinema showing inspiring movies of Richard's choice to keep him going on the biggest challenge of his running career.

Richard Whitehead said: My main motivation for the run is to prove that anyone can live a life without limits. My biggest challenge besides the blisters and sore hips is the repetition of running for 40 days and keeping myself motivated and in good spirits. Watching Chariots of Fire whilst running was brilliant seeing one my favourite movies on my own mobile cinema was perfect for helping me get over some serious hills.

Virgin Media has also challenged its staff to run, walk or cycle as far as possible during the run, promising to increase its own charitable donation to the run based upon how far its staff run. Since the challenge began on August 13th, Virgin Media staff have run the length of the UK over three times between them.
