African films feature at Dubai festival --

The AsiaAfrica out of competition segment of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) will include Half of a Yellow Sun, Biyi Bandeles film adaptation of the Orange Prize-winning novel by Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichies , and previously banned South African film, Of Good Report, by Jahmil XT Qubeka.
Running from 6 to 14 December, the 10th edition of DIFF gives independent and established filmmakers from Asia and Africa the opportunity to present their creative voices to an international audience.
Nashen Moodley, director of the AsiaAfrica program, said: The films selected for this year s AsiaAfrica program will enthral audiences with their gripping storylines, brave and poignant themes, and moving performances. This segment is about providing access to a truly global box office, uniting DIFF audiences with film lovers around the world in their experience of these wonderful stories.
Half of a Yellow Sun brings four characters together during the late 1960s, when the Nigeria was in the throes of a civil war.
A humble teacher arrives at a local Township school and begins an affair with one of his students, causing tragic consequences in Of Good Report.
